26th September 2014 was "WORLD CONTRACEPTION DAY"

World Contraception Day (26 September) is a global campaign aimed at raising awareness of contraception and empowering young people to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.
This year’s theme is your future, your choice, your contraception.
Family Planning says the theme of this year’s World Contraception Day focuses on empowering young people to think ahead and build contraception into their future plans – to prevent unplanned pregnancy or sexually transmissible infections.
Chief executive Jackie Edmond says there are two elements to making this possible:

  • ensuring young people have access to clinical services
  • quality sexual and reproductive health education and information.

Information About the New Full-Term Pregnancy Definition

Full Term Starts at 39 Weeks
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine announced new, more specific definitions for babies born between 37 weeks and 42 weeks. In the past, a baby born anytime between 37 weeks and 42 weeks was considered “term.” A pregnancy is now considered full term at 39 weeks.
UPDATE: In November 2013, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) released a committee opinion replacing "term" delivery with new labels based on gestational age. Babies born at weeks 39 and 40 are now considered "full term." Learn more about the new definition of full term pregnancy based on NICHD research.
