Nurses shouldn’t delegate Skilled Job to Unregistered
Care providers of the TEAM.
1. The responsibility
for the practice of nursing cannot be delegated. The nurse continue to be
responsible for the overall assessment, determination of client status,
care planning, interventions and care evaluation even when tasks are delegated
to an unskilled care provider.
2. Under certain conditions, a nurse may delegate selected
tasks for a specific client to such care provide when she is busy in an equally
serious client and can’t send a qualified provider.
3. The decision to delegation aspect of the client’s care
must be taken keeping ethics in mind.
4. The best interest of the client must be embedded in all
aspects of decision-making regarding delegation. Each situation is unique and
must be decided on its own merits.
5. The perception of the people about the skill and competency
of nurses will be demoralizing.
6. IF the Unskilled care provider can provide ECG services
and collect blood for Lab tests, administer par-enteral drugs, What is the
difference perceived by a common man between a Registered Nurse and Class IV members of the team?
Let’s
think about it & Teach Ethics to our future Nurses perfectly.
